You ever notice that all that stretching and breathing and “Om”ing is still leaving you with hip or low back or shoulder pain? Guess why? Yoga is not a cure all. It’s also debilitating to some bodies the way it has often been taught in recent years.
There are a handful of teachers right now who are sharing intelligent and state-of-the-art practice. A couple live right here in Zürich. Here is one pictured in this photo.
Join me this Saturday for an advanced teacher’s study on the hips and pelvic imbalance. Why more stretching isn’t always a good idea, how to see and correct imbalance, and address and cue your students as individuals rather than blanket statements and alignment that don’t make sense for everyone. And sometimes not even for anyone.

About 26,280 hours ago (3 years today) I married this man.
I don’t get to see him today because 48 hours ago he flew off to Bangalore for work with a heavy heart and sadness in his eyes.
57 hours ago (pictured) he held and comforted our daughter at the hospital in her overly-tired, agitated state. We were waiting 4.5 hours for her very first stitch.
For over 200 hours the entire week before, he worked day and night to take care of our family while I was immobilized by illness.
2616 hours ago he sent off a letter of intent to move into our current apartment where I could, for the first time in my life, have a space of my own to teach and practice.
46,032 hours ago I sat across the table from him on our first date in the East Village, in awe of the kindness, intelligence and transparency I encountered in our very first conversation.
I could list so many numbers. So many hours. So much time that we have shared, laughed, danced, breathed together.
The numbers may be just numbers, but the underlying profundity is striking, it is almost impossible to conceive.
How does a person exist who is this steady, enthusiastic, silly, kind, generous and true? Who loves me this much?

To @matthiasyazawa - to the many hours we have shared and the infinite gifts you bestow upon me every day.
May we see so many more hours together as a team. As a family. As the best of friends.
Class tonight at @miya.yoga is unfortunately canceled. I have taken another little downturn today in this ongoing battle in my body.
I have to listen and give myself a bit more time.
My sincere apologies to those signed up.
This is a still from a blanket exploration I did on Saturday as a way of finding new ways into my body in the midst of this heavy heavy sickness. When I have felt like moving it hasn’t been on a sticky mat.
With love, Anya
There is nothing like illness to remind just how precious are our health and vitality.
I am looking forward to returning to class tomorrow in my continuing effort to help others restore/renew/rediscover their own vitality. 🌱🌷💫☀️
