Kind. Fierce. Revolutionary: is an asana and movement practice that is meant to allow space for individual discovery through collective effort. Mobilizations and spiraling warm-ups connect us to the building blocks of movement. Standing asana explorations include flow and dynamic progressions using blocks, blankets and other props in ways that both challenge and awaken. Inversions, hand balances, and backbends will be played with in ways that shift perception, and encourage us to support ourselves where we may be blind or vulnerable. The practice concludes with nervous system/subtle body down-regulation through restorative asana, breath work and meditation.
Each day of this immersion will shine a light into the myriad of ways we may view the self with particular focus and exploration on how pain and confusion manifests in the physical form. Through experiential techniques, discussion, and hands-on applications, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to tailor and evolve a personal practice that can remain vital and deeply supportive in the balance of the whole self over the entirety of one’s life.
This session will be focused in three components: upper body (thoracic spine, shoulders, neck, jaw), lower body (feet and ankles, knees, hips and low back) and movement/exercises to integrate the whole. Using mindfulness, interoception and deep awareness, we will observe where we each hold balance and imbalance in the physical form.
Each day of this immersion will shine a light into different ways of viewing the self (through various physiological, subtle-energetic, and spiritual lenses) and offer techniques that may be applied on a personal basis in a variety of situations to bring oneself toward balance. Through experiential practices, discussion, and hands-on applications, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to tailor and evolve a personal practice that can remain vital and deeply supportive over the entirety of one’s life.
In this weekend mini intensive, Anya will share a variety of methods for creating harmony and balance in the body using subtle and powerful variations of asana as well as self-administered and partnered hands-on work. In addition, vital practices of stillness, breath and meditation will lay the framework for maintaining the equilibrium established in the physical form. The backbone of the work includes a core set of techniques that successfully address specific systems, tissues and joints, however time and space will be provided for individual concerns from group participants. Each attendee can expect to come away with a deeper understanding of his or her own physicality and equipped with a set of tools to encourage sustainability on and off the mat for years to come.
